Raag Dhani is a light and playful Raag, hence Vilambit Khyals are not very prevalent, instead Drut or Madhya Lay Shringar or Bhakti Ras compositions are apt. This Raag is considered a Kshudra Raag.
Komal Gandhar is a very powerful and Nyas swar and the Raag is expanded around this note. Komal Nishad is also a Nyas swar. Not long ago, Rishabh was not considered Varjya in Avroh and hence the Jati of this Raag was considered Audhav-Shadhav. But in present times, Raag Dhani is rendered with Rishabh Varjya in Avroh and the Jati of this Raag is Audhav-Audhav. However, sometimes some vocalists rarely use Rishabh in Avroh to beautify the Raag.
