Raag Hemshree, created by Acharya Vishwanath Rao Ringe ‘Tanarang’ is a very melodious night time Raag.
The basic framework of Raag Hemshree is similar to Raag Tilang, but in Raag Hemshree Gandhar Komal is used instead of Gandhar Shuddha (as in Raag Tilang) which enhances the melody of Raag Hemshree. In Raag Tilang, Rishabh is used as a Vivadi Swar (rare use of rishabh). However, in Raag Hemshree Rishabh and Dhaivat are completely Varjya.
In Raag Dhani, Gandhar and Nishad are Komal whereas, in Raag Hemshree only Gandhar is Komal and both Nishads are used. The mood of this Raag is light. This is a very sweet melody that manifests readily in the following combinations which are very pleasing:
